February 12, 2010As the Main Street construction project moves forward, residents and business owners will be able to see real progress. Road grading may start as early as next week, as pipe installation is completed. Construction of the curb on the west side of Main Street, which will eventually run from 10th Street to 16th Street, will begin within the next two weeks. To compensate for weather-related delays, you may see contractors on the job site seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to ensure the project remains on schedule. A snow fence has been placed around the excavation site every night for the safety of everyone. Please be aware that no one except an on-site contractor has authorization to be inside the fenced area. Storm sewer construction has begun on the south half of Phase 1. The storm sewer construction will begin on the north half within the next few days. American Utility Corp., a contractor for AT&T, continues to work on relocation of new lines. They are also moving existing lines out of the way of the water main, storm and sewer pipe installations to assure continued service. Please note: Tie-ins to the new water main will require temporary water shut offs. All businesses will be notified at least 24 hours prior to these shut offs so accommodations can be made. Questions or comments can be directed to Scott Harris (695-9161) or Betsy Combs (442-2639) or send us an e-mail. Thank you for your cooperation and support during this transition! |
