The nationally-recognized IMS Hall of Fame Museum sits on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway within the 2.5 mile track.
Established in 1956, the original design for the Hall of Fame was too small to accommodate the growing popularity of the motor sports world, so a new, larger facility was built in 1975. In 1987, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Hall of Fame were designated as National Historical Landmarks.
Visitors are able to learn more about the history of the Indianapolis 500 and peruse a collection of racecars from previous eras of motor sports history. In the 48-seat Tony Hulman theatre, sit back and enjoy a 20-minute presentation of historic Indianapolis 500 footage.
The Hall of Fame Museum is open year-round, except on Christmas Day, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and features extended hours to reflect open gate times during May
activities. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for ages 6-15, and children under age 6 are admitted free.
