Education is key to the success of any community — and in Speedway, it’s one of our top priorities.

The results of this emphasis speak for themselves: With a graduation rate of 100 percent in 2010, Speedway High School is also the only high school in Marion County that earned a Four Star award for the 2007-2008 school year. Newby Elementary joined the high school in representing Speedway on the list of 179 Four Star schools statewide. Speedway Junior High School achieved a Four Star award for the 2010-2011 school year.

To achieve Four Star status, schools must rank in the top 25 percent statewide in student attendance rates, ISTEP scores in math and English/language arts and the percentage of students passing both math and English/language arts. Four Star schools also must meet federal guidelines under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

Higher education opportunities are essential to sustaining Speedway’s educated workforce. We’re privileged to have several colleges and universities nearby, including Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Marian University, Butler University, the University of Indianapolis and Ivy Tech.
