Education is key to the success of any community — and in Speedway, it’s one of our top priorities.
Small neighborhood schools, smaller class sizes, and exceptional teachers combine to create unparalleled student academic success in Speedway. Each year, standardized state assessments confirm that Speedway students perform far above the state average and are elite in Marion County. The success of this cohesive system of schools is evidenced by the fact that all eligible students end third grade at or above their grade level in reading, while the graduation rate over the past five years remains steady at 99%. Here, children learn to read early and calculate accurately, using these skills to advance, excel, and graduate ready for college and career.
The record shows that completing high school is a given in Speedway and that advancement to post-secondary education is the norm as 76% of each graduating class generally enrolls and persists in completing four-year and two-year degree programs upon exiting high school.
Higher education opportunities are essential to sustaining Speedway’s educated workforce. We’re privileged to have several colleges and universities nearby, including Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Marian University, Butler University, the University of Indianapolis and Ivy Tech.
