Life in Speedway provides residents access to one of Indiana’s top-rated school corporations – the Speedway School District. With two schools earning the prestigious Four-Star Award for academic excellence and several previous award winners, it's evident that Speedway’s emphasis on quality public education is second to none.

Speedway’s children are served by four neighborhood elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school, lauded for maintaining the highest graduation rate in Marion County. Speedway also ranks high in Marion County when comparing the percentage of Speedway students who scored above state standards in all areas. In fact, 2008 scores ranked Speedway students in fourth, sixth and seventh grades first in Marion County, while students in fifth and seventh grades were ranked second in the county. There is still progress to be made, as a district, Speedway is meeting and exceeding the state bar.

Speedway also places high importance on federal No Child Left Behind guidelines. Based on collective ISTEP+ scores, attendance and graduation rates, all elementary schools and the high school achieved adequate yearly progress (AYP) in 100 percent of the categories. The junior high school met standards for AYP in 77 percent of the areas of evaluation.

In addition to excellent academics, Speedway schools offer extracurricular activities including athletics, music programs and an assortment of clubs to advance the enrichment of the community’s children.
