Town of Speedway breaks ground on Daredevil Brewing Co and celebrates with first-annual Summer Street Festival
Speedway welcomes new production brewery and taproom on Main Street
Speedway, Ind. — Recognized for their eclectic and aggressively fun beers, the Daredevil Brewing Co begins construction on a new 10,000-square-foot production brewery facility and their first public tap room on the two-acre site at the 1100 block of Main Street in Speedway.
The Main Street location is an expansion of Daredevil Brewing Co’s growing craft-beer business. Makers of the very popular Lift Off IPA, the company’s beers are distributed throughout central and southern Indiana and available at hundreds of locations including stores, bars and restaurants.
“Main Street, Speedway, is an iconic location that uniquely complements everything Daredevil is about,” said Shane Pearson, co-owner of Daredevil Brewing Co “After months of due diligence evaluating locations, we found this incredible opportunity to acquire a former brownfield site that supports our business plans and allows us to be a part of the redevelopment of historic Main Street, Speedway.”
The Speedway Redevelopment Commission celebrates the new business and its economic impact to the Town of Speedway with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. Daredevil Brewing Co plans to be fully operational by spring 2015 at the new location.
“A craft brewery on Main Street provides a new type of destination location that complements and adds to the growing diversity of local businesses and restaurants in Speedway,” said Vince Noblet, President of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission. “We are excited to welcome Daredevil Brewing Co to Main Street and our Speedway community.”
The Speedway Chamber of Commerce is also pleased to welcome Daredevil Brewing Co, an independently owned and central-Indiana based business, to the community.
“Daredevil’s visitor-friendly taproom and accessible location on Main Street encourages even more residents and visitors to experience Speedway’s vibrant community,” said Angela Cole, Speedway Chamber President.
In conjunction with the groundbreaking, the festivities continue that evening from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. with the Summer Street Festival on the 1200 block of Main Street in Speedway. This family-friendly event is free to the public and includes live music, food and fun activities for kids — like a blow up and trike obstacle course, remote racecars, airbrush face-painting and Go Karts (fee required).
A component of the first-annual Summer Street Festival, the Hops & Flip Flops Craft Beer Festival is located in the Dallara IndyCar Factory for craft beer enthusiasts over 21. This ticketed-event features local, regional and national craft breweries with proceeds benefitting the Speedway Lions Club. Adults can step outside to participate in summer activities like Corn Hole, Bocce Ball and Keg throwing and listen to live music, as well as visit the outdoor food and craft beer garden on Main Street. Tickets are available at hopsfest.eventbrite.com
