The Speedway Redevelopment Commission (SRC) is committed to accomplishing revitalization and economic growth here in Speedway. And we’re well on our way.
Our rejuvenated, award-winning Main Street is already a place where home-grown organizations thrive alongside nationally known corporations. And plans for growth focus on encouraging commercial and industrial development compatible to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway — think motorsports, advanced manufacturing, and clean technology.
Major retail anchor stores, entertainment, meeting spaces and hotels are also an integral part of our plan to meet the needs of the motorsports enthusiasts that come back to the Brickyard® year after year, while nourishing the overall economic development of our growing community.
Speedway’s redevelopment plan focuses on two key areas:
Located near Main Street and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this area includes 400 acres of multi-use property primed for commercial, shopping and entertainment, residential, and research and development projects. Boundaries include Main Street on the west, 16th Street on the north, 10th Street on the south and Olin Avenue on the east. The goal for the Main Street Corridor is to create a thriving and attractive downtown that fosters growth within the existing business community and encourages the development of new business.
A 300-acre area on the northwest side of town along Crawfordsville Road, this area features numerous parcels of land available for commercial, community and neighborhood shopping, and residential development. The Crawfordsville Road Corridor, with its high visibility along a major route to the IMS and Main Street area, offers excellent potential for businesses interested in being a part of the Town’s rejuvenated growth and success.
With the high visibility, easy access, and incredible potential of these two major redevelopment areas, Speedway presents a unique opportunity for businesses to grow their success while helping to re-shape the future of the Town.

The Speedway Redevelopment Commission is appointed by and is governed by the Speedway Town Council. Using input from the entire community, the commission is charged with assessing potential land use and development strategies to revitalize two major redevelopment areas in the Town of Speedway.
The SRC’s goal is to foster growth within the existing business community and encourage the development of new business by building upon the Town’s unique history of motorsports and technology. Ultimately, our vision is a renewed, rejuvenated Speedway that preserves the unique attributes that have always made our community a great place to live, work and visit.
The Commission meets at the Speedway Town Hall Public Meeting Room at 1450 N. Lynhurst Drive, on the 4th Monday of every month at 5:30 P.M.
“We see tremendous opportunity for Speedway to create a world-class motorsports education, technology and cultural center within a revitalized town center – this would be unique in America.”
